New Picks for the New Year!

2013 is here!  To celebrate the new year, I wanted to share some new products that I've recently purchased including some cheap finds from the recent CVS clearance sale.

Since it's been freezing here lately, my skin has been extremely dry.  I saw a few ads for Jergen's Crema but had no luck finding it anywhere.  After a trip to a Rite-Aid across town, I finally found it and I am glad I did.

For the past week I've been using Jergen's Crema Deep Conditioning Oatmeal.  I really have enjoyed this lotion.  It's thicker than Jergen's regular lotion but thinner than a body butter would be.  The lotion actually reminds me of Jello pudding!  Jergen's Crema soaks into the skin very quickly, is not greasy and leaves skin soft.  The scent is a mix of soft coconut with vanilla.  I found my tub at Rite-Aid for a little over $6.

Another great product I recently started using has been Albolene.  Albolene has been around forever but I've never tried it.  After talking to a co-worker who praised it for keeping her extremely sensitive skin healthy, I had to pick up a tub.  I purchased mine at Rite-Aid for $11.  While Albolene is not cheap, it does serve several purposes.  Albolene reminds me of whipped Vaseline.  Albolene is lighter and absorbs quicker than Vaseline however.

First, Albolene is a known makeup remover.  Simply take a tissue, dip into the product and rub until the makeup basically melts away.  I've been using it to remove my makeup over the past week and so far it has done a good job.  I find that Albolene does not remove my mascara as much as I would like but it does remove eyeshadow and foundation quickly and easily.  I don't find that it is greasy but it does leave a slight film which will eventually soak into the skin or can be wiped away.

In addition to a makeup remover, Albolene can be used as a skin moisturizer.  Apply Albolene to your feet and put in them in socks for an overnight skin softener.   I've been rubbing it into my elbows and knees as well!  Albolene is also known for moisturizing itchy skin associated with eczema.  My son has eczema around his nose and this product has helped it disappear after a few uses!

I also wanted to share some new Nivea products I recently picked up.  After Christmas I was able to score this set which includes a mini tub of moisturizing crème, 2.6oz tube of moisturizing crème and a full size of Mint & Minerals lip care.  I was able to get the set for $2.  I've really enjoyed the set.  The tube has found a home in my desk at work and the mini tub fits great in my manicure box.

After getting these new skin care products, I was able to enjoy some deals courtesy of CVS.  A few times a year CVS puts a lot of makeup on clearance for 50%-75% off.  The sale is still going on at my local CVS and items were just added, so you may want to check your local store for deals.

I picked up 7 bottles of polish, 1 lipstick and 1 crème blush.  6 bottles were 75% off and 1 Sally Hansen polish was 50% off.  The lipstick and blush were both 75% off.

Here are swatches of the polish (all but two are Revlon colors) and the last two are magnetic polishes-

I wanted to finish my blog post by sharing something cute I found for contact wearers.  I recently was in Wal-Mart near the eye care center and noticed some cute cases for contacts.  Each case contained 1 contact case and a mirror.  Some cases were silver, purple, pink, etc.  Each case was $3.95 which is a deal.  I picked up a rainbow leopard print that I think will match fabulously with my leopard luggage.

Happy New Year everyone!
